Laurel carries a sharp, spiced-herbal character — medicinal in the best sense, with a warm camphoraceous edge softened by a faintly sweet, woody undertone. It reads as green and aromatic rather than floral, with a dry, slightly resinous finish reminiscent of bay leaf crushed between fingers. The profile is assertive and distinctive without being heavy.
Works well in:
- Perfume and body oils — strong character; works well as a supporting note at controlled dilution
- Cold process soap — a natural fit given laurel's longstanding use in traditional soap making
- Soy and paraffin candles — the herbal-spiced character throws well in wax
- Reed diffusers and room sprays — suits masculine or aromatic ambient blends
