Animalic/Musk

Deep, warm, and skin-like, the animalic and musk family covers some of perfumery's most sensual base notes. Musk, ambergris, civet-style accords, castoreum, and leather sit at the heart of this category — soft, lingering scents that hug the skin and build over hours rather than minutes. Modern musks tend to be clean and slightly powdery, while traditional animalic accords are richer, with a warmer, more textured feel.
