These homemade stress relief candles are the perfect way to unwind after a long day, and they're easy to customize with your favorite scents.

They make for great additions to your workspace or den, as well as excellent and inexpensive DIY gifts for your loved ones.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF EUCALYPTUS AND MINT BLEND IN YOUR AROMATHERAPY - stress relief candles?

There are many benefits of eucalyptus and mint fragrance stress relief candles.

This blend is a powerful aromatherapy fragrance that not only helps relieve stress but also freshens up your home.

Eucalyptus is a very soothing scent that can help you relax. It also helps with stuffy noses and respiratory issues. It also provides relief from tension headaches.

It helps relieve stress by stimulating the brain's limbic system which releases endorphins that are responsible for relieving pain or discomfort. It also helps improve mood and reduce anxiety by stimulating the limbic system.

The smell of mint is one that can be enjoyed by almost everyone. It is sweet, but not overpowering. The aroma is very refreshing and invigorating and can help relieve stress or fatigue.

If you suffer from insomnia or anxiety, the smell will help calm you down and make you feel more relaxed. In fact, studies have shown that people who inhale the scent of peppermint before going to bed fall asleep faster than those who do not inhale it at all.

Mint fragrance is also good for soothing headaches because it helps open up your sinuses by dilating blood vessels in your head.

This helps stimulate circulation which reduces pain caused by constricted blood vessels in your head.

EQUIPMENT REQUIRED

  • Candle containers (heat-proof jars, glasses, tins, etc.)
  • Pre-waxed, pre-tabbed wicks (or pencil)
  • Wax
  • Superglue or hot glue
  • Melting pot, large glass heat-proof bowl.
  • Mixing spoon
  • Scale
  • Candy thermometer
  • duct tape
  • Eucalyptus Fragrance Oil and Mint Fragrance Oil
  • Air dryer

CHOOSE YOUR STRESS RELIEF CANDLE CONTAINERS

Find heat-proof containers in your house made of glass or ceramic.

Get creative, you can use previously purchased candle containers, small ceramic flowerpots, or any molds you find at your home. i\

If you choose to reuse an old candle container, place them in simmering water and you can use a knife to scratch out the remnant and the wick gently.

ASSIGN THE AMOUNT OF WAX NEEDED

If you`re not sure about the exact amount needed, you can fill the container with water and then pour the water into a measuring cup, this will help you to know the exact amount needed for that specific container. Following this way, you don`t need to worry about wasting any wax, especially if you plan to repeat this again.

WEIGH AND MELT YOUR WAX

Set up your heat station by fetching a melting pot, pouring water into the half, and then placing your pot on the stovetop.

Chop and grate your wax before weighing as this will ensure smooth melting Now, place an empty pot on a scale and make it a ‘zero’. Then, place the chopped flakes of wax on the zeroed pot. Take the measurement desired.

Then, as if you're melting chocolate, grab a heat-proof bowl and fill it with your weighed flakes of wax, and place it in the pre-heated pot. Gently, stir the wax until it's evenly melted.

Be mindful of the temperature, use the thermometer so as not to exceed 90°C. You may be tempted to raise up the heat to accelerate the melting step, however, being patient will allow having a more homogenous and smooth texture. Once fully melted, drop the temperature down (approximately to 60°C).

ADD YOUR FRAGRANCE

You can then add your coloring agent and both the eucalyptus perfume oil and mint perfume oil in equal amounts (For example, if your wax weight is 100g then add 5g of eucalyptus perfume oil and 5g of mint perfume oil). Stir occasionally and allow the mixture to cool down.

We recommend adding between 3-10% fragrance oil by weight. Be aware that the resulting scent while being stirred can be much stronger than when the mixture is dry and the candle is burned.

PREPARE YOUR CONTAINERS

While waiting, double check your containers are clean and dry. If you`re using a temporary container, dampen the interior with a small amount of oil for easy removal. As for the wick, you can either prick a hole in a little ribbon, then attach the sides to the container (where the

wick can pass through the hole). Or you can tie the wick to a pencil lying horizontally, while the wick is falling vertically.

Either way, make sure the bottom end is attached to the bottom of the container using glue. If your container has a wide diameter, you can use 2 to 3 wicks, evenly spaced. This is to allow the spread of even burning across the candle and avoid the ‘tunneling’ at the center of the candle while burning.

POUR YOUR MIXTURE

Once cooled below 60°C, slowly and carefully pour your mixture into the container, and try to avoid ribbon or pencil. Take your time, pouring slowly will reduce the chances of forming air bubbles.

Prior to finishing, notice if your mixture is shrinking at the center, if so, then pour in a little more (of your mixture) to even it out. If you think the surface is still uneven, a good idea is to use an air dryer, and with extra care, Allow the air to gently pass on top of the candle. Allow the final finished candles to settle down for 24 hrs prior to burning, at room temperature.

Final tips: Make sure to clean your equipment while being wet, this will save much of your time. Trim till ¼ inch of the wick is visible. Allow your candle to burn for 4-5 hrs at first, to ensure even burning. Remove the tape, ribbons, and/or pencils. Keep away from children and any combustible materials.

Light & enjoy your beautiful scented candle!
