Soy Wax Flakes

Natural soy wax in thin white flakes for container candles and wax melts, quick to melt and easy to measure by the spoonful. It is a clean, slow-burning plant wax, in the form that small-batch makers reach for first.

Working with it

Thin flakes have a large surface area, so they melt in minutes in a double boiler or wax melter and are the easiest form to portion for a single jar. Heat to about 70–75 °C, cool to around 60–65 °C, add fragrance oil at 6–10% and stir for two minutes. Pour at roughly 50–55 °C into room-temperature vessels and cure for at least a week before burning. Because flakes trap air, a full bag weighs less than it looks, so measure by weight rather than by volume. For a flat top on a large jar, pour a little cooler and warm the glass first.
