Natural Beeswax

Natural beeswax in small white pastilles for candles, balms and cosmetics, refined to a clean pale colour that takes dye truly and melts evenly. Pastilles weigh out quickly and melt in minutes, with none of the grating a block demands.

Best for

• Rolled, dipped and moulded candles with a long, bright burn
• Balms, salves, lotion bars and lip products
• Blending: a small share stiffens soy or coconut wax

Working with it

Beeswax melts at a higher temperature than soy, so heat it to about 70–75 °C in a double boiler and never over a direct flame. Add fragrance, if any, at 6–8% just before pouring at roughly 65–70 °C; beeswax carries its own faint honey scent and many makers leave it unscented. Pour into a pre-warmed mould or container to reduce cracking, and let it cool slowly. It is hard, so pair it with a larger wick than soy of the same diameter, or blend it with 10–20% coconut wax for a softer container candle. Cosmetic use follows the usual rule of a small share of the formula, typically 5–15% in balms.
