Soft, ripe, and warmly fruity — apricot sits between peach and plum in character: juicy and slightly tart at the top, with a smooth, velvety sweetness in the dry-down that's closer to the fruit's skin than its flesh. It's a gentler, more nuanced gourmand note than strawberry or raspberry, with a subtle floral undertone that keeps it from reading as purely confected. Works well as a standalone or as a softening, fruity accent in floral and oriental compositions.
Works well in:
- Soy and paraffin candles — good hot throw, performs well as a feature or supporting fruity note
- Body and perfume oils — effective in fruity floral and light oriental formulations
- Melt-and-pour and cold process soap — stable, adds a warm, soft fruitiness to bar formulations
- Wax melts and tart warmers — good diffusion at low temperatures
- Reed diffusers and room sprays — projects softly at moderate usage rates
