Ambroxan (Perfume Fixative & Booster)

Ambroxan is a synthetic amber fixative with a warm, musky, faintly mineral character and exceptional staying power, stocked here in 30g to 1kg.

In small quantities it behaves as a fixative, slowing the evaporation of lighter top notes so a composition holds its shape for longer on skin and on a blotter. Used generously it stops being a background material and becomes the scent itself — the warm, skin-like amber that has shaped a generation of commercial perfumery. It is unusually easy to work with: woods, musks, citrus tops and white florals all sit comfortably above it, and it rarely fights anything you put beside it.

Independent perfumers use it to build their own accords, refill and attar houses to extend a base, and candle and diffuser makers to hold a scent through a long burn.
