Raw, warm, and intensely skin-like — this is animalic in its most direct form: dense, musky, and deeply carnal, with a leathery, civet-adjacent character that's earthy and provocative without being unpleasant. The dry-down is close to skin, long-lasting, and complex in the way that natural animalic materials tend to be. A specialist note primarily used as a blending tool to add depth, warmth, and intimacy to oriental, leather, and oud-forward compositions.
Works well in:
- Body and perfume oils — most effective as a depth and fixative note in oriental and leather blends
- Bukhoor blends — adds a traditional animalic warmth alongside oud, amber, and resinous bases
- Soy and paraffin candles — use at conservative rates as a supporting base note
- Reed diffusers — effective at low usage rates to add warmth and complexity to a blend
