Online, a 30 ml and a 100 ml bottle can look the same size in a photo. This guide explains how many sprays each common perfume size gives and how long a bottle tends to last. It also covers which sizes to choose if you are bottling perfume of your own.

How big is a 30 ml perfume bottle?
A 30 ml bottle holds about two tablespoons of liquid. The bottle itself is usually small enough to close your hand around. It is the size many people buy to try a new scent, and it fits easily in a handbag or wash bag.
At about 300 sprays, a 30 ml bottle lasts around three months if you use three sprays a day, or longer if you wear it only on some days.
How big is a 50 ml perfume bottle?
50 ml is the most common size in shops. It holds a little over three tablespoons and gives roughly 500 sprays: about five to six months at three sprays a day. It is a good middle ground if you know you like a scent but don't wear it every day.
How big is a 100 ml perfume bottle?
A 100 ml bottle holds just under half a cup and gives roughly 1,000 sprays, so at three sprays a day it lasts close to a year. Per millilitre it is usually the best value. 100 ml is also the largest liquid container most airlines allow in hand luggage, so a full 100 ml bottle can travel in your cabin bag as long as it goes in your liquids bag.
Why the same size can look very different
Capacity tells you how much liquid a bottle holds, not how big the bottle is. Two 50 ml bottles can look completely different because of:
- Glass thickness: heavy bases and thick walls make a bottle look larger and feel more expensive without holding more.
- Shape: a tall, slim bottle and a short, wide one can hold the same amount.
- The cap: a large decorative cap can add a lot of height.

How much does a 100 ml bottle of perfume weigh?
The liquid is lighter than water. Alcohol-based perfume weighs roughly 80 g to 90 g per 100 ml, while perfume oils are a little heavier, closer to 90 g to 100 g. The glass bottle, pump and cap usually weigh more than the perfume itself: a full 100 ml bottle commonly weighs somewhere between 250 g and 400 g, depending on how thick the glass is.
Choosing bottle sizes for your own perfume
If you are bottling your own blends or starting a small brand:

- 30 ml sprays keep the price of each unit low and suit a range where customers try several scents.
- 50 ml and 100 ml sprays suit your best sellers, where customers already know they like the scent.
- Leave headspace. Fill a bottle to its stated capacity minus a few millilitres, so the pump seats properly and the liquid has room to expand in heat.
