It's easier than you think to make your own beeswax candles! Here's a simple recipe for making scented beeswax candles that give out a warm aura & soft glow.
INGREDIENTS YOU NEED :
RECIPE :
- Choose your wick and pull one of the wick stickers from the roll and place it on the wick tab, then peel the paper off the wick sticker's exposed side.
- Attach the wick to the jar's bottom center.
- Melt the wax and oil together in a double boiler. If you don't have a double boiler, you can make one by filling a pot with one inch of water, inserting a smaller pot, and heating the water on your stove.
- Add the oils after the beeswax has melted.
- Place the wick in the center of the candle. You can do this by using our special wick holder.
- Fill the glass jars with wax.
- Place the candles in a warm place to harden because the wax can crack if it cools too quickly. Check out our article on how to properly cure your candles, here.
TIP FOR CLEANING :
Beeswax is notoriously difficult to remove from the bowl in which it is melted, but here’s a little trick - preheat the oven to 200 degrees F and then turn it off and place the bowl inside. The wax is completely melted within a few minutes, making it easy to remove with paper towels. (You can also do this by using the same double boiler method to melt the wax) Following that, simply scrub with soap and water as usual.
USING YOUR CANDLES :
Allow at least two days for your candles to cure before trimming the wick to about 1/4 inch. When you light your candle, direct the flame to the base of the wick so that some of the wax melts and is drawn up into the wick, allowing it to burn properly.
Allow the candle to burn long enough for the wax to melt to the jar's side. This helps to prevent tunneling, which occurs when the center melts with a lot of wax remaining around the borders.

Can I use olive oil instead of coconut oil?
Olive oil is liquid at room temperature and coconut oil is semi-solid, the candle will be soft. As a result, there’s no point in utilizing it.
