There's an earthy, almost hay-like quality underneath, with a subtle spice that gives it real complexity. It's a prestige raw material in Arabic and South Asian perfumery, and performs equally well as a standalone statement note or as a luxurious accent in oud, rose, and amber compositions.
Works well in:
- Body and perfume oils — skin-safe at standard dilution, a natural fit in oriental, oud, and rose-forward blends
- Bukhoor blends — complements oud, amber, and resinous bases with depth and warmth
- Soy and paraffin candles — good hot throw, performs well as a feature or accent note
- Reed diffusers and room sprays — projects with warmth at moderate usage rates
